Health and Wellness in Colorado Schools

We know healthy students learn better. That’s why the Colorado Legacy Foundation is helping Colorado school districts and schools put health and wellness policy into action. Our work in 2009 includes publishing a Health and Wellness Best Practices Guide, and sponsoring a daylong summit for administrative teams from school districts and the Commissioner’s Choice Awards to recognize school districts and schools that are taking innovative steps to improve student health and wellness.

The second annual Commissioner’s Choice Awards was presented at the 2009 Healthy Kids Learn Better! Legacy Luncheon and Summit. We also hosted related regional workshops for educators and school board members, and provided an opportunity for innovation grants to districts that attended the summit to help schools apply best practices in health and wellness.

Our multi-year health and wellness initiative is made possible through a grant from the Colorado Health Foundation.
